Why Read the Bible? #4

You will Live-Better

According to recent research, the average person makes somewhere in the region of 35,000 decisions per day. Of course, most of these will be trivial and inconsequential (e.g. what shall I have for breakfast? What brand of shower gel shall I use? Etc). There will be some that are slightly more significant (e.g. shall I exercise today or not?), and then there will be some decisions you have to make that are very significant and will have a huge impact, not just on your own life, but on the lives of many others also. Who shall I marry/date? How shall I manage my finances? How will I raise my children? What career path shall I choose? etc. Big decisions that have a big impact.

What is going to guide you as you make this multitude of decisions each day? Your feelings? science? reason? logic? culture? friends? While all of these things can be helpful in the decision-making process, they do all have the potential to betray us. Surely nothing can be as reliable as the inscrutable wisdom of God expressed and revealed in the word.

Your commands are always with me

and make me wiser than my enemies.

I have more insight than all my teachers,

for I meditate on your statutes.

 Psalm 119:98-99

Want to make better decisions? Read your bible!

The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple
