Consider: Unity among believers holds transformative power. It's a witness to the world of the reality of Christ's love and the truth of His message. When we, as followers of Jesus, stand united despite our differences, the world sees a glimpse of the divine love that transcends human barriers.

But achieving such unity is no easy task. It requires humility, patience, and above all, love. We must learn to set aside our personal agendas and preferences for the greater cause of Christ's kingdom. It involves embracing diversity within the body of Christ, recognizing that each member brings unique gifts and perspectives to the table.

Jesus didn't pray for uniformity but unity. He understood that unity doesn't mean we all look, think, or act the same. Instead, it means we are bound together by our shared faith in Him, compelled by His love to pursue reconciliation and understanding amidst our diversity.

Furthermore, Jesus's prayer highlights the vital role of the Holy Spirit in bringing about this unity. It's the Spirit who dwells within each believer, knitting us together as one body, empowering us to love one another as Christ loves us.

As we contemplate Jesus's prayer for unity, let us examine our hearts and our relationships with fellow believers. Are there divisions that need healing? Prejudices that need dismantling? Let us commit ourselves afresh to the pursuit of unity, knowing that as we stand together in love, the world will witness the reality of Jesus Christ among us.

Action: Spend time this evening praying for other churches and movements locally and nationally (including the one we are affiliated to - The Apostolic Church UK. Pray God’s blessing on them and that there would be more opportunities for churches to work and stand together.
